The American Flag itself may be the most popular and important symbol of the United States. In 1972 John Wayne wrote a song, called "Face the flag" to honor  the American Flag. Wayne writes that the flag guarantees the right to live in freedom. Furthermore, Wayne emphasizes that the flag unites the past, the present and the future of the United States: "It leads the forward movement shared by all mankind, to learn, to love, to live with peace of mind . . . " (Wayne) Moreover, the US flag unites the citizens of the United States, regardless of their heritage: "To love each man for what he is, regardless of his birth . . ." (Wayne)

The flag has thirteen stripes, seven of them are red and six stripes are white. The colour red stands for valor but has also become a symbol  for the blood of brave patriots who fought for liberty as one soldier explained. White stands for purity and innocence. Each star of the American Banner represents one of the fifty American States. The blue background behind the stars symbolizes justice and perseverance but can also be seen as a symbol for heaven.

The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States. It is the symbol for freedom

The Statue of Liberty is as the name suggests it already a symbol for liberty. Even though it was a gift from France, the statue has become one of the most well-known symbols for America itself and everything associated with her by people all over the world
