Passive Voice

Thomas paints a picture.

°The picture is painted by Thomas (Simple Present)

Das Hilfsverb "to be" gibt uns an in welcher Zeit der Passivsatz steht:

is = Simple Present

°The picture is being painted by Thomas

is being = Present Progressive

°The picture was painted by Thomas

was = Simple Past

°The picture was being painted by Thomas

was being = Past Progressive

°The picture has been painted by Thomas

has been = Past Perfect

°The picture has been being painted by Thomas

has been being = Past Perfect Progressive

°The picture had been painted by Thomas

had been = Past Perfect

°The picture had been being painted by Thomas

had been being = Past Perfect Progressive
